Gives a smooth increase and decrease of the bass cut than using 500k pots. In variant 2 there is 1M resistor. This resistor is to adjust impedance to around 1M so it establish high-pass filter frequency fixed. However, if guitar is connected to modern guitar pedal or amp then it is not necessary since most of pedals (except old fuzzes like fuzz-face etc)and amps have hi input impedance =>1M. Removing this resistor will have no effect.
THe lower the capacity value the more bass-cut effect and treble become more dominant. I have really muddy Roswell pickups and ended up with 1,5 nF cap. Using 4,7n - effect was subtle. This network is passive one therefore bass-cut will cause signal little bit weaker.
About pot - 500K will work as switch. At fully open position bass-cut is disengaged and by closing it bass-cut effect becomes suddenly fully engaged. To have more smooth control I would suggest to try something between 1K and 10K pot.Iczikohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01820509657980412941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930224298847481396.post-56915851088307652662020-12-17T02:02:37.333-08:002020-12-17T02:02:37.333-08:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Humaun Kabirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115372749293027201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930224298847481396.post-78293200406335553842020-11-23T19:25:21.211-08:002020-11-23T19:25:21.211-08:00Then only change the wiring on the pot for the nec...Then only change the wiring on the pot for the neck pickup tone pot.Lumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08906332533953481681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930224298847481396.post-65560738316846698592020-11-14T10:02:29.444-08:002020-11-14T10:02:29.444-08:00Sorry,i don't get it.....so if i have 50's...Sorry,i don't get it.....so if i have 50's wiring and all i wanna do is to have a basscut for neck pickup.....what should i do???
Veskuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04085578250677887391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930224298847481396.post-50597696476119725272020-08-31T20:50:15.788-07:002020-08-31T20:50:15.788-07:00A different pot taper ratio or try a linear one.A different pot taper ratio or try a linear one.Lumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08906332533953481681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930224298847481396.post-2853499079082346912020-08-24T06:27:35.965-07:002020-08-24T06:27:35.965-07:00Nice mod, I've done it on two guitars to brigh...Nice mod, I've done it on two guitars to brighten up the neck pickup. I couldn't hear much difference with the .0022 cap, so I swapped in a .0047 and got the cut I was looking for. To my ear, the .0047 cut more bass, but maybe I had the .0022 hooked up wrong.

My only gripe is that the cut happens almost immediately when I roll back the tone knob to 8, and there's not much difference below that value so it's basically on or off.
